Modex 2026: Finding “Simple Wins” in Atlanta’s Sea of Automation

Futuristic expo with "MODEX 2026" arch, people explore automation stations. Blue neon paths, city skyline, and text: "Simple Wins Station."

Next week, Atlanta gets loud.

Modex 2026 is officially taking over the Georgia World Congress Center from April 13th to 16th. If you’ve never been, picture this: over 1,000 exhibitors, 40,000 attendees, and enough flashing LED lights and whirring robot arms to make you feel like you’ve stepped onto a sci-fi movie set.

It’s big. It’s overwhelming. And for a lot of business owners and operations managers, it’s a little bit terrifying.

You walk in looking for a way to fix a labor shortage or a bottleneck, and you walk out three days later with a headache and a stack of brochures for $10 million systems that take two years to install.

At Approach Automation, we think there’s a better way to look at the show. We call it finding the "Simple Wins."

The Circus is Coming to Town

Modex is the Olympics of supply chain technology. You’ll see everything from massive ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) that touch the ceiling to humanoids that look like they belong in a lab.

But here’s the truth: most mid-sized businesses don’t need a "digital transformation." They don’t need a multi-year IT project that requires five consultants and a complete overhaul of their WMS.

What they need is stuff that works. Now.

The "Simple Wins" Manifesto

We live by a pretty basic rule at Approach Automation. We look for Simple Wins.

A Simple Win is an automation solution that solves a specific, annoying problem without breaking the bank or your brain. It’s the kind of tech you can roll onto the floor, turn on, and see a result by the end of the week.

When you’re walking the floor at Modex next week, don't get distracted by the shiny stuff that requires a Ph.D. to operate. Look for the tools that fit into your existing workflow.

Automation is Equipment, Not an IT Project

This is the hill we die on.

For too long, the industry has treated automation like a complex software rollout. They talk about "ecosystems," "interoperability," and "synergistic paradigms."

We don't.

We treat flexible warehouse automation like equipment. Think of it like buying a forklift or a floor scrubber. You don’t need a three-year strategic roadmap to buy a ladder; you shouldn't need one to buy a robot that moves pallets.

When automation is treated as equipment, it becomes accessible. It becomes practical.

It becomes something that a manager on the floor can actually use to make their day easier.

What We’re Looking For (And What You Should Too)

Our philosophy is simple because we focus on four basic pillars. If a machine can do one of these things better, faster, or cheaper than a human, that’s where the win lives.

1. We Clean Stuff

Walking around a dusty warehouse isn’t just gross; it’s a safety hazard and it wears down your machinery. But paying someone to push a mop for eight hours is a tough sell in this labor market.

We look for autonomous cleaning solutions that can handle the grit of an industrial floor. Cleaning still matters at Modex. It’s one of the easiest places to find a fast return. But this year, we’re spending more time on practical tools for moving and storing material than flashy cleaning demos.

2. We Move Stuff

This is the heart of material flow. Whether you call them AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), or just "cool carts," the goal is the same: stop making people walk miles every day just to move a box from Point A to Point B.

At Modex, we’re paying close attention to Milvus Robotics and Quasi Robotics. These are the kinds of companies that fit how we think about automation: practical equipment that solves a real problem without turning into a giant project.

Milvus Robotics stands out because it helps teams move material in a simple, repeatable way. If your people are spending too much time on milk runs, line feeding, or back-and-forth trips that add no value, this is the kind of tool worth looking at.

Quasi Robotics fits the same theme. The Quasi C2 is the kind of machine we mean when we say "boring wins." It handles real work, fits into real operations, and doesn’t need a mountain of change management to start creating value.

That’s the definition of "Automation as Equipment." You don't need to replace your whole process. You add the right tool and get moving.

3. We Store Stuff

Space is expensive. If you’re bursting at the seams, you don't necessarily need a bigger building. You might just need to store stuff better.

Quasi also deserves attention here. We like storage and retrieval tools that feel practical, modular, and easy to understand. Not giant systems that hijack your facility for a year. Just better ways to use the space you already have.

Rapyuta Robotics also fits this conversation. When we talk about storing stuff, we mean using automation to make storage flow smoother, tighter, and more efficient. Rapyuta is worth a look because it helps connect storage automation to real warehouse work, making it easier to put away product, support picking, and use available space better without turning the whole operation upside down.

We look for ASRS and high-density storage solutions that don’t require you to shut down your operations for six months to install. We want modular systems that grow as you grow.

4. We Track Stuff

If you don't know where it is, you can't move it, clean it, or store it. Tracking stuff should be effortless. We’re keeping an eye out for computer vision and AI-driven tagging systems, like Zimark, that eliminate the need for manual scanning.

Why Atlanta Matters

There’s a reason Modex keeps coming back here. Georgia is becoming the Silicon Valley of logistics. Between the Port of Savannah and the Hartsfield-Jackson airport, this state is the heartbeat of how things move in America.

Being in Atlanta for Modex means you’re at the center of the action. But don't let the "Silicon Valley" energy fool you into thinking you need a tech-heavy approach. The best solutions in Georgia are the ones that keep the wheels turning without the fuss.

Practical Advice for Your Modex Trip

If you’re heading to the show next week, here’s how to survive and actually come home with something useful:

  1. Wear comfortable shoes. You will walk 10 miles. This is not an exaggeration.

  2. Ignore the "Booth Candy." Just because a robot can solve a Rubik's cube or pour a beer doesn't mean it can help you ship 20% more product by Friday.

  3. Ask about deployment time. If the answer is "12 to 18 months," keep walking. Look for "weeks, not months.

  4. Think about the "Who." Who on your floor is going to use this? If they need a computer science degree to start the machine, it's not a simple win.

  5. Check out the educational sessions. There are over 200 of them. Look for the ones focused on implementation planning and practical entry points for automation.

Let’s Find Your Simple Win

The team at Approach Automation is going to be on the floor all week. We aren't there to buy the most expensive thing we see. We’re there to scout the equipment that makes life easier for schools, hospitals, retail backrooms, and manufacturing plants.

We’re looking for the Milvus, Quasi, and Rapyuta Robotics kind of wins: tools that show up, get to work, and solve real floor problems without a lot of fuss.

Automation shouldn't be a headache. It shouldn't be a "project" that never ends. It should be a tool that helps you win.

If you're heading to Modex, use our Contact Us form or call 770.637.6773 to set up a time to meet with us. We can meet at partner booths or walk the floor with you and help you find the boring wins: practical automation that actually fits your operation.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by the 1,000+ booths, or if you just want a second pair of eyes on a piece of tech you’re considering, reach out. We love talking shop: especially when that shop involves making things simpler.

Check out our blog for more updates during the show, or learn more about us and how we help mid-sized businesses cut through the noise.

See you in Atlanta! It's time to find some simple wins.
